We have hundreds of reptiles and folks always ask us why the smell is not offensive. A few years ago, we found "Nature's Original Odor Gone - made by CleanLife Technologies. Here is the link: http://www.cleanlifetech.com/odor_gone.h...
Zoos use this stuff - it really works. Just buy the 4oz concentrate and mix your own at home. You can spray the entire cage, it won't harm the plastic, wood, etc - and best of all - it won't hurt the reptile! There is really no smell to it, so it is not masking odors.
Follow the directions - Hint: we use distilled water. Tap water diminishes the effectiveness. You will be glad you found this handy little product.
get rid of the snake...
why would you want one in your house anyway?
...gross.
You're on the mark there.
What makes it smel;l is the faeces, when snake goes potty, clean it out after an hour. No problem with the smell after that.
You should only have to clean it thoroughly about once a month...which includes changing the bedding. Besides that, you should only have to change the water daily and clean out the poo.
Snake cages don't normally smell, so you may just need to clean it thoroughly once right now...and it should get better. Make sure you rinse the cage out thoroughly so there isn't any product smell left over.
You have to change it more, we changed ours once a week sometimes twice a week.
