How do I tell the sex on my two painter turtles?

Answers:
Look at the tail... Males have long thin tails while females' are short and stubby... Also you can not sex them until they are about 4-5 inches in length.
Here is a link to show you the many differences including tail size.

The one that mounts the other is the male.
One tail should be longer than the other, however, I always get confused as to which one belongs to the male or female. Another way to tell is look at the bottom of your turtles' shells, the male should have an indent vs. the females should be flat. This is for mating purposes.
Silly...

Turtles don't have gender differences...(they'll all eu-nochs)
But "tortoises" have three...

An interesting "JackZen" fact I bet you didn't know...
