Easier way to clean a water turtle tank?

I have 2 water turtles (map turtles) and it seems like it takes hours to clean the tank. I have a big rock in for basking, and then the little aquarium rocks on the bottom. I have been sifening (sp?)the water and filling it and it takes FoReVeR!! and then it is still groggy looking untill it settles...which is just still gross. does anyone know an easier way

Maybe try a better syphon (mine hooks to a faucet, made specially for aquariums both drains and fills the tank). I don't think that you're cleaning the tank thoroughly enough as if you were, the water wouldn't be murky an groggy. You may want to add stuff that helps keep the tank clean for longer like adding ZooMed's Repti-Safe, using ZooMed's Wipe Out! 1 when the tank is empty, changing the filter more frequently, adding a plant called Anacharis which eats the turtle feces adding Exo-Terra's Biotize (eats the feces), and of course by cleaning the tank frequently. Also, if you remove extra food if your turtle doesn't eat it all or it falls to the bottom of the tank, this is a big help as well. Maybe try a bigger filter. It does take a long time. It always has with mine too.
big biological filter plus a gravel vacuum syphon that hooks up to the sink. (except you may not want foul turle water in your sink lol)
do not overfeed that is what really fouls a tank.
The quickest way i have found is to First...not to use aquarium rocks. Right now i have no rocks lining the bottom.. Makes it alot easier to clean. Or you could by some bigger stones that are easier to scoop out and you can just put them in a bucket and rinse them off. And i get a container and scoop all the water out filling a bucket then dumping it. Then take out the basking rocks and spray out the tank then fill tank back up with hose or using water buckets.
you can start by feeding the turtlers in another tank a smaller one that is easier to clean. the tank gets so dirty becuz of the food. under water filter will help too.
Water turtles dont NEED anything at the bottom of their tank. Mine have been perfectly happy with just the glass. The small rocks can also be very dangerous, they can try to eat them and choke. Taking out the rocks will make is alot easier to just empty the tank, wipe it down and refill.

Recently I purchased some slate floor tiles and lined the bottom of the tank with them. It looks nicer then just the glass and the turtles like the grip on the bottom. and its not hard to clean...

Just get rid of them little rocks. Buying an underwater filter will help too!
