has back right broken leg, seems very scared, gave it a cricket but hasn't eaten it yet-poor thing I feel sorry for it -trying to nurse back to release

If his leg is truly broken he'll likely never be able to be released. Congratulations you have a new pet! :)
Anyway, the first thing I would do is find out what kind of toad it is so that you'll be aware of the environment he'll need. Head to a local bookstore and go to the Outdoors/Nature section and look for a field guide on reptiles/amphibians. If you can find a field guide for your specific area you'll have more chance of finding your toad in it. Once you've I.D.'d him in the book it'll tell you a little about his habitat and what he eats. Now that you know what he is, Google will be a good choice to find out even more. You may even come across a forum for reptiles/amphibians where you can ask people with experience.
Next you can go to the pet store and go to their reptile section. There should be plenty of items there such as tanks, food supplements (which he'll probably need until he eats on his own), vitamins (which he'll probably also need) and various items to give him an environment he'll be comfortable in. Be sure to ask someone who works at the pet store, who looks like they may know something about toads, and they'll help you get just what you need.
Granted, it may be a bit of an expensive outlay at first but once your new friend is set up in his habitat things should be much more affordable. Crickets or meal-worms once in a while, vitamin and food supplements and he'll be happy. Just make sure you clean his tank regularly and that the temperature and humidity in it is right for him and he should be fine.
Good luck, and thanks for being kind enough to take care of the little guy. :)
he prolly wont eat for a while. he will eat crickets, wax worms, spiders...any bug you can find around ur house. yeah he needs water too. you can use a paper towel in an aquarium if you want for bedding and a place for him to hide
God bless you for being so careing, Call your pet store, they will help you. Let me knpw whwt happens..please!
good job on bringing the toad into your home.
You need to realize that a toad is pretty much a waste of space and sometimes it is easier for you to put it out of it's misery.
Just stomp on it.
