Do you need a licence to breed leopard geckos?

we are looking at getting geckos and breeding, but ive just read somewhere that you have to have a licence for it in the uk is this true? anyone breed them, i only want to do it as a hobby.
Answers:
NO
It depends i mean u cang et all the babies u want without a licenes but no pet store will buy them from you, what you can do is make your own website like i used to when i used to breed ball pythons. a licenes will cost u about 3 grand in the state of illinois, so just make your own website and post it on kingsnake..com witht he rest of the reptiles sites on there.
no you don't need a licence to breed geckos in the uk. We breed them ourselves.
You don't have to have a licence to breed them, because sometimes, breeding happends without intent, but you do need a breeders licence to sell them...you can do the whole website thing, but it's not exactly legal...
How much the licence costs depends a lot on how much you sell them for in most places...

Hope this helps...GOOD LUCK!!!
Hello, I don't know about England but not in the USA, tho my site is USA ..that I will post for you..chances are they might know about England's laws on them ...Take Care :)
I live in the U.S.A. I breed leopard geckos and I don't need a licence. The pet store even buys them from me.
No but you do need common sense and very good cleaning skills as young ones die very easily.
