Do you need to put a water dish in your red eared sliders tank?

Red eared sliders are mainly water turtles!!! They should be in a mostly water tank!
They are water turtles, you NEED to have a small area where they can swim/drink

...
As others have said, you need a water tank. I use a 40 gallon fish tank, but depending on the size of your turtles, something smaller could do. You will need a filter for the tank. You will need a basking area (I use a floating dock). I have a screen on top of my tank where I use a lamp. This type of turtle needs to be able to dry out each day while basking in the light. You will probably need a tank heater because the water temperature should be in the mid 70's, and even in warmer climates, air conditioning can cause the water temperature to drop into the low 60's. If this happens, the turtles may become lax, and not eat, and become sick.
and, no they don't need additional water to drink . Just the water in the tank
i got my 6 in RES in a 55 gal tank just cause i got tired of having to buy a new tank every other year. they drink the water they are in just keep in mind it needs to stay very clean i feed my turlte in a saperate tank to keep left over food from dirting up the water. if you can't do that get a fish net to remove the unate food after each feeding
