Hi,i currently own 4 snakes and am trying to extend my collection.I'm in a little bit of a problem.I have enough money to buy these cages i'm looking at to buy off line or buy a Green Tree Python-morelia viridis wich can go in a 10 gal for now. What should i do get the tanks or get the snake?
Answers:
They'll need their homes set up a couple days before bringing them home so that the conditions are alright for them. Definately get the homes first. If you don't, where'd the poor snake be when you bring it home?
I would by the cages first, just incase finacial things change and your poor snake is stuck in a tiny 10 gallon.
I would buy the tank first. It's like getting married (not really!) but after the ceremony you carry the bride across the threshold. If you didn't have the threshold (and the attached house) , what would you do? Same principle. Where would you put the snakes when you brought them home? Good luck.
i would buy the cages take care of what you already own
The homes %26 set ups are most important before buying ANY animal or reptile %26 seldom are aquariums good ways to keep reptiles unless you make sure the water does not build up..causing, molds, pneumoia %26 other respatory problems ( even in %26 especially with reptiles that need high humidity like chamelions, etc ) that usually lead to death..all reptiles need humidity, usually provided from water dishes %26 daily mistings, especially during sheds, so the best habitats are wood, glass or plexiglass with proper ventilation..for snakes..very good, secure locks too...TC %26 Peace :)
Why not just do like so many others that post here?
Buy an animal that you have no idea how to care for, then when it gets sick, post a message asking if you should release it?
If your current snakes need the cages, make sure you take care of their needs before you start to bring in more snakes that will have to be inadequately housed.
