Found a baby pond turtle with one eye...What do I need to know to care for it?

We know for sure it is a pond or "water" turtle. It is very small.Found it in the grass in the yard.Very sweet seems to like being held.I would like to keep it and see where things go.Ive read a few things online about proper care, but would like a little extra advice.Normally I would have let her be,but with her one eye I cant help but be in love.Any ideas would be great!THANKS!

ps.From what we have viewed online we belive it is a female.

I have 2 turtles of my own. They grow really big. First, get a good sized fish tank and an extra large filter, because youll need it. Go to a local Petco or walmart and buy turtle food and a floating platform for the turtle to bask in. Wash your hands really well after washing the tank or holding the turtle, because small turtles carry salmonella. Its good to have a variety of food for the turtle, but if you have to feed it lettuce, make sure its not regular iceburg lettuce. It doesnt harm them, but they dont enjoy it. I have a newly built outdoor pond for my turtles, and they seem to enjoy their new space. Good luck taking care of it. P.S. They bite when they grow up.

Good luck!
here is a site with a great care sheet on turtles wnyherp.org... look for the picture of the one you have. they require a whole uv set up which is a lot but if youre in this for the long run itll be awesome and worth your money!
Hello..I know you're just trying to do good by this turtle, but it's best if you put her back in the pond you found her in ..seriously..wild, especially aquatic creatures, really do carry serious diseases they are immune to, but you %26 others are not...Take Care :)
