Has anyone ever been bitten by those little water turtles commonly known as "snapper turtles"?

Does it hurt?
Answers:
The common little pet turtles with green shells and red 'ears' are 'Red-ear Sliders', not snappers (although they are often called such) and their bites do not hurt.

True snappers have big heads, and muddy-looking shells. A baby's bite is a mild pinch, and an adult's bite can chomp off some skin or bite a finger to the bone- but it is not as powerful as legend has it. (No bitten-through broomsticks, etc.)
heck yeah and it sucks... Big ones ive herd can even take off your finger
nope. in fact the bigger the snapping turtle, more pleasant the bite feels. some have reported orgasmic feelings while being bitten by the largest specimens.
You Bet! It hurts fierce, leaves a nasty wound. I was only about 12 the first time I got bit you sure don't want to watch any horror movies like piranha before going in the water LOL I have a vivid imagination.
I've seen one snap in two a tree limb that was over an inch thick.

Caught one on a fishing hook once.
Of course ! it hurts !
Snapper turtles are only for people who know how to care them, they are not good pets. They are very dangerous.
Well if you are talking about the little green turtles in the pet shop then the bite hurts but it wont break skin. Once those little green turtles get up to a couple of pounds then they can break the skin, but you wont loose a finger.

Snapping turtles are not found in pet stores...only in the wild. And they can and will take off fingers or occasionally a hand. In many states the Alligator Snapping Turtle is a protected species.
lol.omg. no.. I run. .A friend of mine told me he and some friends were on their motocycles on some back road and a humungous snapper was in the middle of the road. It reared up and challenged them. Talk about scary!..lol
