HELP getting a jackson chameleon for my son?

what would be a cool name for this 3 horned lizard? son wants something cool to name his pet
Answers:
the easiest lizard to care for is the crested gecko. they look cool, and they can be fed a diet of gecko powder mixed with baby food or water, so theyre easy to feed. they will even lick off your hand. its been said they are the best started lizard for kids. i would talk him out of the chameleon thing. im 24 and i admit im in no shape to deal with the maitenance involved with a jacksons. they dont like being handled at all and it can stress them out. not good for a kid.

I hope you have done a LOT of research before purchasing this type of lizard. They are FAR from easy to care for.
Have you had experience caring for chameleons? Jacksons are hard to keep alive if you do not have extensive reptile experience. I wouldn't buy it. They need specific humidity, temps, cage size, varied diet, etc. They do not drink standing water so you need to mist them 3-4 times a day for 10 min at a time. You can not hold them, and some will not even eat (and then die) if they are stared at too often. They do not do well with kids- loud noises throw them off their food, get sick and die)

If you are set on a chameleon- get a veiled chameleon- they are probably the easiest to keep alive out of the true chameleons.

If this is your first reptile, just get a bearded dragon or gecko- that way, your son can have a hands on approach with an easy to care for reptile before moving on to something difficult. Plus, it has a much better chance of staying alive, and you do not need to disappoint your son with a dead chameleon (kids tend to blame themselves for it)
