The principle behind creating a "hospital" cage is to strip the cage down to it's bare essentials. Remove the substrate and any other cage decorations. Leave only one or two climbing branches, just enough to allow him to thermo-regulate. All surfaces should be as smooth and as easily cleaned as possible. It may be easier just to move him to a smaller more manageable space temporarily if his regular enclosure is large. Give the whole enclosure and branches a good wash before you start and remove droppings immediately.
