How do you tell the sex of a fairly young green iguana?

Hello, pretty hard to do on youngins..am not sure what you mean by fairly young..most male iguana's have orange or coral coloring around their heads, on the big cheek scales, females just green..like the babies or youngins..there are other ways, but usually when real young it takes an expert ..for you too I will include a cool reptile site %26 store, very knowledgable - all they deal in is captive bred reptiles..Take Care :)
the way you can tell if you have a male or female is to pick the iguana up and look at the back legs and see if you see dots and if you do see if they are big and if so then it is a male and if they are small then it is a female. males are more colorful then the females. i do iguana rescue and i have been doing it for the last 20yrs and i get more males then females. but if you see big pores then you have a male and if little/small pores then you have a female. good luck
