How do u identify the gender of a baby red ear slider?

I recently bought a baby turtle and i was wondering how the heck to tell if it was a male or a female. i just assume hes a male, but i hope he isnt a female because i already gave a boy name (Scooter) and really dont want to have to change it.
Answers:
the best way to tell the sex of any turtle is check out the
bottom of the shell.if it is flat its a girl, but if its slightly
curved in its a boy..
find a vet that specializes in reptiles. From what I understand that it's hard to sex baby reptiles. If you don't want to take the turtle to the vet, just accept that the turtle's name is Scooter, whether it's a boy or a girl. After all, you might not find out that Scooter is a girl until she starts laying eggs.
There are fairly distinct differences between the male and female red eared slider, but they may not be obvious until the turtle reaches sexual maturity. For males, this is about they time they reach 4 inches in length (about 2-5 years old). Females are sexually mature when they reach 6-7 inches in length (may take 5-7 years).

Males have longer claws in their front legs. The cloaca in females is located closer to the carapace than in males.
The cloaca is a duct or chamber into which the intestinal tract, urinary tract, and reproductive tracts empty. The cloaca then has a single opening where all waste matter as well as reproductive materials exit the body. It is found in birds, reptiles and amphibians, as well as some mammals ie.g. marsupials). The carapace is the shell or hard outer covering or case of certain organisms such as arthropods and turtles
