I have one, and was just curious if they knew what was goin' on??

My leopard gecko seems to know that I am the one who feeds him(not my husband). When I come home from work and go into my bedroom(that is where his tank is) its almost like he hears me, he'll come out of his cave and crawl over to the glass and look at me. Sometimes he even licks his mouth. Like "hey, its time for food!" And mine goes to the bathroom in the same place too, like other people mentioned. Maybe he is an exception, but I would say he is pretty smart for a little lizard.
They are not very intelligent
i have a leopard gecko too.
all i know is that you can't train them or anything like that.
they are the type of pets that you get for the beauty.
i definetly wouldn't call them dumb creatures though. they see movement and they are pretty good at lettin you know if they need water cuz they start lookin for it (digging).
so in conclusion, not dumb, but not the same kind of smart as a parrot.
I'd say they don't have anything special going for them. They eat and drink and don't show you anything you wouldn't expect from them. Still nice pets though.
Hello, all animals %26 reptiles are smart in their own way..leopard geckos are just mellow mostly, reptiles, lizards, snakes just aren't like say dogs, takes smarts to survive in the wild, especially when small ...Take Care :)
They are pretty smart; I'm the only person who feeds them, so they come out of their hide when they see me, but when they see other family members, they don't move one bit. They also have a specific spot in the cage as their bathroom.
They are amazing and beautiful creatures! They can tell what's going on, but they aren't the smartest of lizards, for example. However, they do go to the bathroom in the same place in their cage, etc.
Hope this helps! :)
